Personality portrayed by colour of Necra'an

Evaluation

Good days, bad days
Of course, there were good days and bad days. The first couple weeks consisted of good days where I relaxed and experimented with my avatar. Those were great lessons where I really had fun and got to know Photoshop. I always looked forward to C.M classes and whenever I checked my timetable, I checked for C.M. When everyone was siting on the tables, I decided to venture off into M1 and plopped myself onto the rouge et bleu couches. I was lounging around in the さむい air-conditioned room drinking coke. (I was working, honestly.) oh, those happy days. I don't know what happened to them. I think they ended when I walked into the room and found a long glass door blocking my way to "my" lounge room. Yep, i think that was it. My regular check for C.M classes stopped. *sigh* working on the desks were so hard. I reckon I work so much better on the couches. Anyways, I was a bit slow with my experimenting and judgements at the first part of the term but I knew that my second avatar would only take a weekend to do it after my first one is done. Therefore, I was on track... But it would have been better for me to have used my time more 'efficiently' in the middle part of the term. Maybe less complaining about the glass door that blocked me from "my" lounge room and less complaining about how i prefer to 'get the builder to build the house then describe it' rather than 'get the achetait design it then get the builder to build it'. Hmm.

What went right? What went wrong?
I always find the start of my assignments hard. This is because I come up with an idea then think that I can come up with a better one. This is why I start my assignments first then do the description, etc. Its like building the house than describing it. Anyways, when I thought of the Necra'ans, I didn't quite like it 100% but I had to start my avatar. The first lesson I actually started working on my avatar, I spent too much time in coloring the leaves for their hair. Then I tried to follow my personality profile, therefore spent much of my time searching for the right images. With a little change in my personality profile, I finished my first avatar. I took quite a while on my first avatar. But I finished my second avatar in a day so that went well. Also, I couldn't find s suitable background for my planet either. I had to create one from scratch and that didn't go well with all ther other assignment/tests going on. I made it from a few simple things like a tree, cloud, sky, bush. Then I put the avatar in it. It looked horrible. Our avatars were suppose to look good. Well, at least that's how it turned out for everyone except moi. Mine looked like some random, freaky thing in a weird background. I did my second one. Since the first character didn't have a "body", I put my second character on a body then into a background. It looked worse than the first one. I liked the background and shadow for the second one but the face was....yeh. I looked at my second one than my first one. My first one almost looked good compared to my second one.. Haha:)

If I had my time again, I would...
I think i used my time well in my blog. I posted all the necessary things such as the emotions, personality profile and evaluation as well as extra experiments i did and the process of the creation of my avatar. I have about 15 posts for both Feb and Mar, meaning that i posted about once every two days,,not really but something like that. I was very glad i did this as i did not stress about my blog and post twenty posts all today with 5minute gaps in between every pst:) however, I would try to improve by using my planning time more efficiently and accurately. Instead of trying to write a personality profile for weeks in uncertainty, I should have searched for images as the base of my idea. For example, when thought of Le'c Necra then the Necra'ans and there physcal features, I could have searched different types of leaves, things I could overlay as their skin, different types of mouth, eyes, etc. This would have resolved my uncertainty and made changes based on the images I could work with. It never occurred to me that I could stop furiously typing away at my ipad to write the profile and take a look around, search some stuff and find new ideas.

How did I feel about using Photoshop
I had so much fun using Photoshop this term. Before I started this unit of work, i've always thought that Photoshop was just a (practically) useless program that was difficult to learn. For example, to put a electric tooth brush onto an iPhone, I just used 'paint' and successfully finished my financial futures assignment. However, during term 1, I learnt that with photoshop, I could do more 'complicated' stuff like overlaying other stuff (fur, snake skin, patterns) onto stuff like humans, use masking, liquify, healing brush, cloning stamp and more. It was always fun to learn these things because I was learning new ways to create exotic, surreal images.

Final Necra'ans

Final pieces for my Avatars:

1st Necra'an

Emotion: happy

This Necra'an is happy. By the colour of his lips -blue, orange and red, his personality is portrayed - Confident, persistant/determined and active. As an confident, persitent andactive avatar, he is venturing into the unknown. Roaming around freely picking berries and meeting new creatures in the forests of Le'c Necra. His slight smile without a trace of teeth is evidence to his happy emotion right now. His eyes are darkish brown which absorbs the sunlight and produces the streaks down his face. Through the way the streaks are glowing fairly brightly, it shows that this avatar is healthy and is absorbing enough light energy. Right now, his head is popping out of the bushes but when his head is down, he is very well camoflagued with his skin that matches his hair. In the background, the orange sky can be seen. The orange is the normal colour of the morning with a more yellow colour in the afternoon and a very darkish blue colour in the night only for about an hour or so. The clouds are all pink and fluffy, they do not spread out much and are in big clumps like the cloud shown in the image. The blue tree in the background looks as wide as the head of the Avatar, however, the tree is much far back.

2nd Necra'an

Emotion: Fierce, Furious

This Necra'an is obviously furious,,, you could tell if were a Necra'an. However, we being humans, she only looks very happy. The key points that a Necra'an would point out to say that this Necra'an is furious is 1. She is showing her teeth 2. is crouched in a uncomfortable position in which you can escape quicklt from one branch to another 3. The unmistakable shadow casted on her by an Etsnom as well as her human protective gear. The colour of her lips are purple, orange and red, also shown on her teeth. It shows that she is daring, determined/persistent and active/energetic. That can be the reason to why she is holding her postition with her teeth showing. If it were a Necra'an who possessed green, yellow or gold lips, teeth and tongue, they would definitely have left the scene. However, this Necra'an, possesing purple, orange and red lips, she is showing her dislike towards the Etsnom. If the Necra'ans were not peace-loving people, this avatar would have attacked the Etsnom by now. As shown in this image, Necra'ans are good at and often climb trees. This Necra'an is wearing the human protective gear brought int Le'c Necra through trading with humans. It is short so that their natural camoflague is still active while their weak parts are protected.

4th Draft: 2nd Avartar in background

Well, since my 2nd avatar only had a face, I had to find a body in google images that suited the background I made:

Then, I got the body, layered/masked with some spectrum. Then I put it on the background, fiddled around with it then added the headof my second avatar. Looked weird, again fiddled around:

3rd Draft of 2nd Avatar

I proceeded onto the spectrum and then to the teeth/mouth. The spectrum is the same one i used for my 1st Avatar, but its just flipped horizontally so that it goes from pink/purple to red not red to purple/pink.
I choose purple, orange and red for her lips and teeth. I like how her teeth is also coloured but is not as noticable.

2nd Draft for 2nd Avatar

As you can see in my 1st draft, Ke$ha's face is a bit angled to the right. Therefore, I decided to use a different person who is looking straight ahead. I cant find the source of the pic so I'll just post up the second draft but not the actual person.. you'll just have to imagine her from the draft:

For my second Avatar, I wanted it to be someone who shows there teeth because I was planning to insert a Etsnom shadown at my final image. I found a pic of Ke$ha:

The background of my Avatar - Le'c Necra

Well, since im nearly done with my Avatar, I decided to make my background. I couldnt find a good background in google images because people just dont go around taking photos of rainbow forests/plains in Earth. Therefore, I got a picture of the following:

6th Draft

Wow, I have a lot of drafts! haha, For this draft, i decided to use both the spectrum and the sea floor. This is because the Spectrum suits my race of people more but i personally like the sea floor masking better:





The mouth is left blank for the lips. I was planning to use these lips;

Alone, I reckon it looks okay. But when I put it on my Avatar,,,,,ughhhhh it looked so bad! Unfortuneatly, my hand decided to click 'exit' then 'don't save' by itself so the image of my avatar did not make it.. How sad..

Ok, the sea floor looked 'good' but it ddnt follow my personality profile, therefore, I went and looked for pictures of 'faintly glowing skin'. nothing i wanted came up but i saw a picture of a 'spectrum'. Sooooooo, i tried it on my avatar... I masked it onto his face but it doesnt blend in.. Well, the bell rang by the time i did this soooo it looks better in my 4th Draft:)

Ok, looking at my personality profile, i decided to start with leaf hairs o n a random dude


i started with red leaves and put orage/yellow leaves in the second row..
he looks like a abnormal sunflower.. haha


This is my second draft. I finished the leaves. I got a picture of the sea floor with the rainbow thing ( that does not look like a rainbow) and overlayed it onto the face of my avatar.. It looks pretty good, i reckon but it does not 'follow' my personality profile.. ok, i'm going to try putting some colour onto the sea floor layer..

Personality Profile

-Habitat
Imagine a forest. I bet your thinking of a place full of green, green and more green. Not in “Le’c Necra”. To possibly imagine Le’c Necra, you have to start with an ordinary forest on a canvas. Now, imagine squrting out every colour of paint onto your canvas. Get the brush and paint every green a different colour(different shade of green for the already green parts). Then add in some big, rainbow grassy plains, tall trees, pink fluffy clouds and an splash of orange (the sky). Oh, by the way, there are no rainbow unicorns galloping around in Le’c Necra. Even if there was, they would be killed instantly by the Ertsnoms. You see, in a seemingly happy and cheery place of rainbow, lies a group hidieous monsters –the only non-rainbow thing in Le’c Necra, waiting for animals and/or space travellers attracted to the colourfulness of the planet. The blue trees with colourful leaves of Le'c Necra produces heaps of berries, the only food source for herbivores, other than the leaves which were definitely not a popular chose of food source. There are millions of different types of berries, all different shapes and sizes.

-Physical features and reasons
The native people of Le’c Necra are called the Necra'ans. The planet they live in is full of dangers, so to survive, the race of people evolved over time. They originated from humans -French people, to be precise. To survive in a colourful, foresty world, the Necra’ans gradually grew colorful, leaf-like hair. Their hair camouflages them in the forest/bush from predators, Etsnom mostly. Their skin is also colourful and rainbowish but only their face has shiny streaks down/across their face. It is often misinterpreted as their emotions; however, this is not true, they are just part of their camouflage which matches their leafish hair. The glows of their skin are usually genetic. They seem to be 'just' rainbow but each Necra’an has a different colour which can not be interpreted by the human eye. Since the sun is up for about 28.5 eh, their eyes did not develope night vision. Their eyes are used to the long exposure of the sunlight as well as sleeping in full daylight. The colour of their pupil varies a lot but it is a dark colour to absorb the light and use as 'fuel' to the glows on the face, etc. The Necra’ans rely on their eyes much more than the humans do because they do not have a nose. Their teeth are similar to humans. However, they rarely show their teeth because, it is a sign of disrespect. They often do this when they are furious about something (which is very, very rare) or feel they need to protect something. The Necra’ans are born with white lips and they usually stay white until around the age of 4.8 (6years old in Earth). From then, their lip gets "dyed". Each Necriaian has favourite types of berries. Their lips get into the colour of the berry which portrays their personality. The colour of the berries also affect their teeth and tongue

-Personality/emotions
The colours of the berries portray their personality, therefore, their lips often have a number of different colours.

(Note: only 5 Necra'ans in the history of Le'c Necra have been known to have had favoritism to this berry- 1 per Era of 5)

The Necra'ans are generally a group of bright, cheery race that match their physical characteristics as well as their habitat. They are the type of beings that are easy-going and patient. They do not get mad easily. If they do get mad, they have a very good reason. The only creatures they openly show their teeth is the Etsnoms. They are the ancient enemy of Necra'ans. The Necra'ans started trading with humans since the 4th Era because these two races have got acquinted when the astronauts landed on Earth and nearly got eaten up by a Etsnom. Le'c Necra does not provide a suitable habitat for humans and therefore they do not come often. However, they do keep in touch and trade once a year. The Necra'ans trade their herb berries which significantly decreased death tolls from cancer. In return, humans give them protective clothes and offered weapons but the Necra'ans were a peaceful race and therefore refused the weapons. The protective clothing saved the Necra'ans from the Etsnom but, since humans did not invent rainbow clothes which help camouflage, the Necra'ans cut them to make them short before they wear it. This is to reveal as much of their skin possible for camoflague but still receive protection to their weak parts of their body.
